- Radio today!
It was a wild one in Tucson last night...UofL Softball rallying from a 7-1 deficit to tie it with six runs in two innings...but ultimately losing to LSU 13-9.
Why is it that UofL pitching always seems to blow up in NCAA Tournament games? Coach Pearsall tried Becker, LeCoq and Connell against the Bayou Bengals and all three were rocked by the LSU batters.
Becker took the loss, giving up four runs and five hits in 1.2 innings of work. LeCoq allowed five runs on five hits in 2.1 innings and Connell was responsible for tossing up four runs on three hits in 2 innings.
They jumped on Becker early, two solo home runs in the bottom of the first before LeCoq entered the game. She gave up the third home run of the inning and the Cards found themselves down 3-0 after one.
UofL put a run up in the top of the third...Jordan McNary singling home Hannah Kiyohara.
LSU responded with four in the fourth and it was looking like this one might be a run-rule finish. The Cards exploded in the top of the fourth, though...for two runs and again in the fifth with four more runs. Hannah Kiyohara's two RBI single tied it at 7-7.
LSU put five more on the scoreboard in the fifth he with four hits, a walk an Louisville error. Brittany Duncan tried to close the gap in the sixth with a two run homer run to make it 12-9 but LSU added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth for the final 13-9 margin.
Louisville faces a win-or-you're-eliminated game tonight against the Boston University Terriers at 7 p.m. BU was handled by Arizona 9-6 in the game following Louisville's.
37 runs in 12 innings combined last night in Tucson. Must be something in the air besides flying softballs....

Shoni Schimmel introduced herself to the WNBA last night with nine fourth-quarter points, a franchise-tying 11 assists and two clutch free throws late as the Atlanta Dream held off San Antonio 79-75.
With the game tied at 73-73 and 46 seconds to go, Angel McCoughtry scored on a layup to put Atlanta ahead to stay. A controversial foul call on San Antonio got the ball back in the Dream's hands and Shoni sunk two free throws to make it 77-73. Shoni didn't start but played 30 minutes.
Erika De Souza led Atlanta with 23 points and Angel McCoughtry added 21 for the winners. The Dream heads to Indiana for a 7 p.m. game tonight.
Asia Taylor came off the bench to contribute 4 points in 12 minutes in Minnesota's 89-77 win over Washington. A-Tayy was 1-3 from the field, 2-2 from the charity stripe and grabbed a rebound.
